Longford enjoy good runout v Monivea in 1st pre-season friendly 2018-08-19 15:40:00

Longford Senior Men had their first outing of the 2018-2019 season at home in CPL Park v Monivea on Saturday.  Longford have been mostly focusing on Strength and Conditioning to date, so this was the first proper blow out for the panel.

Longford came out on top of a very entertaining game played out on front of a good crowd, scoring nine tries to Monivea’s six.  Although there was a fair amount of errors with players getting back into their rugby stride and new combinations clicking, new Head Coach Glenn Baskett will be impressed by the skill levels shown and some of the new players, with Longford running in some cracking tries.

Some of Longford’s usual suspects showed up well like Kieran O’Gorman, who has stepped up into a coaching role as well as playing this season, Colm Glynn and Benny McManus.  Some of Longford’s new players showed up well too, with Ryan McHugh from last years 18s have a great game at Scrum Half, Sam Murphy showing up well at centre and second rows Fred Davis and David Gilmore putting in good shifts.

Training continues every Tuesday and Friday at 7.45 PM.

The Senior Men have a team day next Saturday, they then start their Midland League Campaign, which will be great preparation for their first league game v Coolmine.
