Coaching Workshop for all Longford RFC Underage Coaches   09/01/2019

Attention Coaches and others involved at Under Age level in Longford RFC

The Club’s Director of Rugby, Niall Moran, and Steve Coy Jnr, have arranged in-house coaching workshops for all coaches at Youths and Minis level, to take place on Monday, 14th and Monday, 28th January.  The plan is to conduct an on pitch session for about an hour and a quarter, starting at 7:30 p.m. and using one of the Youth squads as “guinea pigs”.  As we all know, Niall and Steve have many years experience of coaching at all age levels from Minis upwards and their vast knowledge of how to conduct training sessions will be of huge benefit to everyone involved in coaching, at whatever level, within the Club. All coaches are invited to attend as it affords an opportunity to gain expertise in the area of coaching without having to travel long distances for Coaching courses, which is more often than not the case.

By coincidence, on next Sunday the IRFU is hosting a Conference in the Aviva called “Spirit of Rugby Conference” the theme of the Conference being “Play Your Part, Let Them Play”, the aim being to help adults create and maintain a safe and fun environment that prioritises player welfare. Immediately following the “on pitch” workshop on Monday the 14th there will be a presentation by Niall Moran/Gerry Carthy on the main take-aways from the previous day’s Conference. The IRFU Conference is for anyone working with age grade players and Niall and Gerry will hopefully be able to bring back and impart the key points and themes from the Conference.  This particular part of the evening might well be of interest also to anyone else involved in the Club at under age level, but not necessarily as a coach.
