Senior Men

Longford Senior Men finished off their Midland League Group A Campaign with another emphatic win against Mullingar on Saturday evening.  Longford scored 128 points and only conceded 15 points over their three group matches.  They now move onto to the Leinster League where undoubtedly far bigger tests await.  First up is Coolmine away on Sunday, where the Early side kick off at 1.30 PM and the Late side kick off at 3 PM.  Longford recorded two victories home and away against the same opposition last season.  However, it is a tough first match and both sides will have to considerably raise their games to come away with a win.

Upcoming Fixtures:

Sunday September 23rd Leinster League Coolmine (Away)

Sunday September 30th Leinster League Carlow (Home in CPL Park)

Sunday October 14th Leinster League Monkstown (Away)

Longford Youths

U12

Longford U12s played in Edenderry in their first blitz of the season.  The U12s played three tough matches but showed improvement over the three games.  Good work by Dan Donohoe, Harry Byrne and Derek Belton in the centre among others enabled Senan Murphy to score three tries.  There is plenty to work in training ahead of a busy match schedule over the coming weeks.

U16

Longford played Virginia in a friendly on Saturday.  It was a good performance by Longford especially in the second half.  The U16s scored five tries on the day with four conversions by Kevin McDonagh.  Kevin McDonagh, Dylan Reilly, Ronan Kavanagh, Rory Maguire, Cormac McDonagh and Ryan Doherty were the best performers on the day.

The U16s take on Cavan at home next Saturday at 11 am.

U18

Longford U18's played Virginia on Saturday the 15th September. It was a very good game with some excellent tries from Peadar Kenny, Michael Dunne, Dario Cigliano and Simon Moorhead. All tries were successfully converted by Simon. The two outstanding players were Peadar Kenny and William Higgins. Longford were deserving winners with a final score of 38 to 24.
