Tullow v Longford Match Preview   20/11/2017

Longford RFC's Performance XV will have their toughest test of the season this coming Sunday when they make the journey to Carlow for a clash that will have a significant impact on the complexion of the table.

The Performance XV will have to show all the guile that has netted them five wins from six games if they want to be in with a chance of beating Tullow on their home patch.

Tullow have only lost out to Kilkenny so far this season. That was an away fixture. Longford may have beaten Kilkenny on the road, but their loss to Suttonians put the Dubliner ahead of them on the table just one point clear of the Carlow men on 25 points.

It is the decisiveness of the Tullow wins and their ability to get the maximum points from most of their games that sees them top of the table on 26 points, four points clear of Longford's 22.

Member of the coaching staff, Glenn Baskett, has said that as the season progresseds the support of the fans will be a crucial component of the games.  He made a call out to all Longford rugby supporters for a next Sunday's game.  He said: “Black Gate is a good distance, but we are encouraging  as many people as possible to come to the games Sunday.”

Both the Development XV and Performance XV take on Tullow with kick offs, 1PM and 2.30PM respectively.
