Leinster League 1B/2A Playoff Call to Arms   09/03/2016

Longford Rugby Club Senior Men first XV face the most important game of that last number of seasons when they take on with Railway Union on Sunday at Coolavacoose, Carbury the home ground of Edenderry RFC.

After last weekend’s rousing display at Silken Thomas Park in the Curragh to overcome Cill Dara on a score of 20-40 a lot will be expected of the boys this Sunday.

This is in essence a “cup final decider” to ensure survival in Division 1B. If there was a graph of the last three games then Longford will be happy with the way it is being plotted and will hope that the curve continues upward.

Club President of Longford Rugby Club Tony Headon had this message for local rugby fans: “I am calling on all Longford Rugby supporters to make a special effort to get down to Edenderry to support the team in this vital game.”

Backs Coach Glenn Basked added to this call to arms for Longford supporters by saying: “As part of the team I know the support we got at home against Mullingar was great and we would encourage everyone to try and make the short trip to Edenderry this Sunday for what is do or die for the team. The boys have put in two huge performances in the last two weeks and your support could be the difference in getting the boys over the line this week. We hope to hear and see you all there Sunday.”

Anyone interested in going to see Longford RFC take on Railway Union in Edenderry at 03:00 pm next Sunday can contact a club member about transport.
